The final scores are weighted sums with
weights 1, 3 and 6 given to priorities 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The
choice of weights is what we thought most appropriate but that it had
no impact on the order of the features.
Beneath the first graph is another that shows the proportions of 1s, 2s and 3s per feature.

This is the list of features with their keys:
A Improved headers/footers (e.g., new options for the "Show
headers" option, e.g., "All but first/last page", etc, plus
different headers/footers for first and last pages of the
document and different headers/footers per chapter)
B Watermarks (either as a page-filling graphic in the page
background or as a background picture behind a structure
similar to background colours), e.g., to produce documents
that display the word "Confidential" in the background
C A dialogue-box based style editor (as in Impression or
OvationPro)
D References (page/heading/auto-number references, so the
section number, the heading and the page number in a phrase
like "See section 3.1 'Further questions' on page 37" are
updated automatically, at least before saving and printing
or at the click of a button)
E Auto-numbering for figures, tables and equations
F ODF export (Open Document Format, the new XML-based standard
for office documents used by OpenOffice.org - not to be
confused with MSWord's own XML format, see below)
G ODF import (see previous item)
H Word2000 format export (as opposed to Word95 format, which
EW currently uses), removing various limitations of the
current Word output (e.g., on total file size) and allowing
JPEGs and PNGs to be exported natively instead of expanding
them (NB: we already have Word2000 import and despite the
name, this is the still the current Word format)
I Improved HTML export using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)
J Automatic widow and orphan control (prevent a single line of
a paragraph from appearing on its own at the top or bottom
of a page or column)
K Multiple editable views on the documents (i.e., "New view"
menu entry as in Impression or OvationPro)
L Structure view showing a tree view of the document structure
and allowing the structure to be edited
M Change tracking (visual indication in the document marking
the places that have been modified since the last reset of
the change information - useful to see what has changed
since the previous revision of a document)
N Mixing portrait and landscape pages in a document (e.g.,
have a landscape chapter in the middle of a portrait
document)
O Improvements to search and replace, most notably regular
expressions (a much more powerful wildcard system - like the ones
usually offered in text editors)
P Flowing more than one paragraph around a picture
Q Floating pictures (pictures that jump to the top of the next
page when there is not enough space available on the current
page allowing the remaining space on the current page to be
filled with text)
R Mail-merging facilities using the ImpulseII protocol (this
is the standard RISC OS protocol for mail merging used, for
instance, by Impression and OvationPro and supported by the
Impact and Powerbase database applications, amongst others)
S Updating Index and Content pages in situ in the document
(rather than having to export the Index or Contents as a
text file and dropping that in)
